Hello! Welcome to Iz and Ez, a podcast about books, movies, TV, podcasts and life in general.
Iz and Ez met in 2006 on a university exchange trip to Guangzhou, China. Ez was a bright-eyed 18 year old fresh from the country (she’s from a town near Shepparton in northern Victoria) and Iz was a slightly more jaded Melbourne-born 21 year old who was making her second attempt at getting a degree. We spent three months in China together, studying Mandarin, drinking vodka with Russian exchange students, eating hot pot that made our toes curl, giving lectures on Kath and Kim to bemused Guangzhou University students, catching trains to far-flung provinces. That was 2006. We’ve been friends ever since.
Fast forward 11 years and, after stints in Romania (Ez) and PNG/China (Iz), we both live in Melbourne. Ez is a high school English teacher who dabbles in writing, and Iz is a writer who dabbles in teaching. We don’t see each other as often as we did back at uni (although we are in a book club together), but when we can, we love to hang out and chat about what we’ve been reading, watching and listening to. So we thought we’d make a podcast!
We aim to record Iz and Ez monthly. It’s not sponsored in any way, and all views are our own. If you’d like to give us feedback or just say hi, please write to us via our contact form. We’d love to hear from you, our listeners!
Until then, thanks for tuning in, and we look forward to chatting with you soon.
